My Story

Hello, my name is Diamond. I am a one-year-old sweetheart who is a mixture of American Staffordshire, Boxer, Border Terrier, and Irish Water Spaniel as confirmed with the Wisdom Panel Mixed Breed DNA blood test. I am spayed, have all my shots and have a nice bill of health but am living in a foster home because I was abandoned by my former owner when he lost his home.

I am house-trained and crate-trained and have an overall quiet disposition. However, if enthusiasm is called for, I have plenty of that. I am intelligent and curious, and I love everybody, but if you need to get something done, I am happy to do my own thing for a bit. My favorite alone activity is to cavort with my toys and toss them in the air while bouncing around the yard, but I also adore my naps. I LOVE water, so bath or shower time is not a big fuss, and an owner who would take me swimming regularly in the summer would be the bomb. (Caveat: My foster mom keeps me on a long lead, because I would try to swim to China if she let me.) I do very well in my crate, because I know you’re working for my dog food, but I love to be active and go for rides in the car.

I have no fight or fight breeding history and am a great snuggler who loves to give face washes. I have been socialized with other dogs and play very nicely. One of my foster pack members is a neutered German Shorthair Pointer named Orlando – he towers over me with those long, spindly legs of his, but that doesn’t stop us from having a really good time. But like many female dogs, I would be better off in a home where there is a neutered male or no other dogs.

I received a behavioral assessment, and (not to paw myself on the back or anything) the behaviorist told my foster mom, “What a NICE dog!” I greeted people politely and played super-nicely with another adult dog and a puppy, then passed my human and dog food/chewy aggression tests with flying colors. In other words, I’m a super-special girl who will make everyone want one like me!

Currently being fostered in Northern Wisconsin
