** DELILAH IS A COURTESY POST ** PLEASE READ BIO FOR CONTACT INFO **
Delilah is an energetic, 7 year old, 45-pound black tricolor Australian Shepherd. She is a sweetheart and listens very well. A perfect match for an Aussie lover!
She loves attention, belly and butt rubs! Delilah will be your protector, she is loyal to her family. She barks to protect, with someone new in her home, she will bark until they give her some treats and she learns they are not a threat. Males have to prove themselves a little longer but she comes around and is all for the love, pets and attention from her new friends. With some time to get used to a new environment and bonding with her family.
Fetch and squeak toys are her jam! With her high energy, eagerness to please, and Aussie intelligence, she is a potential candidate for someone who can give her the exercise, tasks/ “jobs” to keep her active.
We have not had her around cats but based on her herding skills it may take some training. She has lived with many other dogs and gets along with them. She does have a battle for dog rank with our little female dog but nothing other than her herding her!
She is house trained, and sleeps where she wants. We have not crate nightly but she is trained and can be in one. Walks are her happy place! Active folks who love Aussie awesomeness and appreciate all that comes with them - the joys and the challenges - will love Delilah.
We have a 10 month old baby and realizing we cannot provide her the life she needs. Some things that would be helpful in her next home:
- Someone active, daily walks, farm/ land for roaming and herding.
- Ideally have herding dog or similar breed experience and confidence to meet the needs and the traits of an Aussie.
- A home with adults only or with older children 10 and up who respect and understand herding breed dogs.
- Has always been in fenced backyard, could be different with training
- No kitties or other small critters please.
- Introductions with new people, places, and pets must be slow and monitored.
