My Story

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.wagoninn.rescuegroups.org Debbie is an adorable pup who is looking for a home! Debbie came to us from the NYC shelter system where she was found with Libby as a stray, very emaciated. We don't know how someone could deprive them of food and basic care and then dump them like trash, but it appears that is exactly what happened. They are sweet, friendly pups who needed some love and groceries to get them back up to a healthy weight. Debbie weighed 31 lbs on 7/16. We don't exactly know how old she is - we've had estimates between 7 months old and 1 1/2(!) She definitely acts like a young adult. If she is indeed as young as 7 months old, then we're guessing she'll weigh about 45 lbs full grown. Debbie is very sweet when meeting neighborhood kids. She loves to lie next to you. Movie nights are her favorite! She also loves to cuddle in bed with you, but will sleep in a crate in your bedroom with just a little bit of whining at first. And she doesn't mind sleeping on a dog bed in your bedroom, either. Debbie loves to play with other dogs. Check out her videos, playing with Sparkle and with Ayden. She can seem rough when playing with dogs, but no one ever gets hurt. There's just a lot of rough & tumble! She respects when dogs tell her they don't want to play - she met a couple of 5-lb yorkies who told her to back away, and she did! Debbie will jump on kids at first (in excitement), but then is very sweet to them. Debbie enjoys going for walks. She has fun playing with water in a baby pool but isn't thrilled about swimming in the deep pool. She is polite taking treats, and knows "sit". She is pretty much housetrained and doing well. She enjoys using the doggie door in her foster home. Debbie is a youngster and has been known to chew on things she shouldn't at times, but in general she is very well-behaved in the house. Debbie is up to date on vaccines and microchipped. She has now been spayed. She has had her hips x-rayed and they are normal. She does have luxating patellas in both knees. Her adoption fee is $550. Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. After all these dogs have been through, they deserve a loving, committed home. How to Adopt Me!
