Deanna has found her forever home with Chris, Amy, and Jared B. in Bellingham, MA
UPDATE 3/7: Deanna is being returned to us because she is in need of some obedience training (still jumping up for affection at age 2). And her adopter just had back surgery with a 4mo recovery and can no longer care for her adequately. Deanna is a playful sweetie pie who was surrendered to the city pound in TN (high-kill shelter) because she was pregnant. She was rescued from the pound, had her puppies, and then we placed Deanna in her adoptive home in the summer of 2009. She is now 2yrs old and weighs 30 pounds and now needs a new home due to the reasons above. Deanna is house trained and crate trained and has been tested with cats and just is playful with them. She loves attention and to run and chase bugs and frogs! She also loves to run and play with children (older than 6 would be the best ages). And here is a word from Kathy, a trainer-in-training, who has been working with some of our fosters: " I worked again with Deanna again today. She really LOVES walks in the woods. She does really well on a leash and had the J in the leash heeling with me for a bit. She likes jumping over logs and when I told her “track back” which is a command that I use for my dogs so they help my client with guiding back, she sniffed her way back to Camp. I worked some more on her sits and focus which she does well. Her downs though are still those where she prefers to roll on her back. I lured her down with a treat and as soon as she downed the correct way I rewarded her with a lot of praise and a treat. If I didn’t ask her to do something else right away, she rolled on her back and wanted a belly rub so at that point I would change focus and work on loose leash walking or heeling with figure eights. When we first went out of Camp there was a landscaper with a leafblower that she was afraid of(immediate tail between the legs and froze up) so I asked the landscaper if she could say hi to it so he put it on the ground(turned off of course!) and she sniffed it first jumping away from it and then the next time OK realizing it was not going to hurt her. She is such a sweet dog and I think would make someone a great dog. She LOVES her walks and was quite happy that she had gone on a walk. We would walk a bit, train a bit, walk a bit, etc" Her adoption fee is $300.
