Deacon, a heart-wrenchingly beautiful 10-week-old (as of April 2008) Belgian Shepherd Malinois baby, was dumped with his brother at the Lancaster shelter. By the time our volunteer found him, he was alone, dead center in a windy, dusty cage, looking up at her with his innocent, kohl-lined eyes. He spent the night at the vet's for a once-over, checked out fine except for a little wear on his baby teeth where he tried to chew his way out of a tie-out or enclosure (his permanent teeth should be fine). Deacon is good on a leash, happy in a crate, loves other dogs and good with kids and strangers. Housetraining is new to him but he's learning! He has a great temperament- he is calm, cuddly affectionate and loving. He has already begun learning commands. He weighs twenty pounds at ten weeks, which the vet says means about eighty full-grown. He is a great puppy that will grow into a beautiful, majestic dog.
