My Story
This mystery man has 100% Great Pyrenees DNA which means any of the livestock mountain guardian/molosser breeds can apply. We believe he may be a Great Pyrenees/Pyrenean Mastiff cross, or simply a Pyrenean Mastiff. He knows the answer but he's not telling. Possible recessive gene, back to ancient European guardian bloodlines giving him the blue color. What we do know from DNA testing, that is he is not mixed with any domestic breed that is not in the guardian group DNA data base. He's sweet as sugar but needs someone who understands dominant but gentle giants since he will be a very big boy when he reaches his full size in about another 1-1/2 to 2 yrs. Dax has been in rescue for approx 5 weeks & so far, we have not noted any negative baggage, quirks, or problems from his former life.
Dax was found along a busy highway in south central MO. Thus far, Dax has shown no animosity towards any other dog, loves cats, adores people. He's willing & obedient, loves to ride shotgun (if your vehicle is large enough) and is a gentleman always. At home, in public, in the car, at the vet, everywhere we have had him, he's been a good dog.
Dax is EST to be between 18 & 24 months of age. He had a few medical issues that are now resolved, & was very thin when rescued. He has gained 10 lbs since rescue & is 92 lbs today. He is large boned & now that his nutritional status is what it should be, he will continue to grow & mature until age 3 yrs.
Dax is fully vetted, neutered, UTD on all vacs including rab & cert, wormed, micro chipped, HW neg & on monthly preventative. Above ground fenced yard, home visit, veterinary reference, adoption contract required. Adoption fee $325, plus $150 transport fee to northeastern US (New England area). To apply, please fill out pre-adoption application & we will contact you within 48 yrs.
