My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Dakota Fanning, 7 months (estimated DOB Dec 2023), spayed female, Retriever mix, currently 40 pounds. She is not full grown and we estimate her to be a medium size when full grown. She is in a foster home in SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved. One of our foster homes was driving and noticed a dog in the street. She pulled over and found two puppies in the woods- most likely abandoned :( She was able to pick them up and take them home. They were a little nervous at first, but have settled in well. Dakota is your typical puppy who is curious about everything, active, runs around, chews on things and is very cuddly. She shares a foster home with 4 other dogs (her sister was recently adopted). She has great manners with other dogs and we would really prefer to see her in a home with another dog. If there is not a dog, please indicate how you plan to socialize her. She is housebroken, but does have an accident here and there. She has been crated and is doing well. Her foster mom has not spent much time on leash walking, so she will need some training in this area. She has a doggy door she can go in and out of into the backyard. She is very affectionate. We have no history with cats or kids. We think she would do great with kids who can understand and respect animal boundaries. In typical puppy fashion, she just jump out when excited or to say hello. For puppies this age, someone needs to be home more than they are away as crating them for long periods of time is not conducive for their developmental needs. ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
