My Story

Hello all! For those of you who have been true Full Circle Rescue follower's, you may have recognized me from a couple years ago. I was adopted into a loving home in what I thought was to be my happy ever after. Unfortunately, I have recently been re-surrendered to FCR but I am back and ready for a more suitable home! Dakota was rescued from one of our partnered shelters in Texas, USA. He is a well socialized, playful and a happy boy. After the past 3 years of Dakota being in a busy overstimulating home environment - he is ready for a more lowkey lifestyle. He would thrive in a home with a fenced in backyard, one without younger children. We believe Dakota would do fine in a home with older dog savvy children, that understand basic boundaries, as he is accustomed to living with some in the past. As he has been in Canada for the past 3 years, this sweet boy is already well accustomed to a home environment and the Canadian lifestyle. He is fully house trained and has basic manners and deserves an adopter who is willing to commit to him forever. Dakota's ideal adopters would understand that he thrives and needs structure, rules and boundaries. A home willing to crate train him and help him be the best dog he can be! He loves being a dog, running and playing with other dogs brings him joy! He is a cuddler at the end of the day and enjoys being around his humans. Dakota would succeed in a home with lots of love and consistency! Foster Update: Dakota is a very sweet dog, he loves his people and while he does love to go for walks he also loves to cuddle up or snooze on his bed. He plays really well with our young very playful dog and respects our senior dogs space. Dakota would do well in a home with older kids because he does tend to paw every once in a while when really excited or playing, if he's really excited and being playful he may even lightly mouth. He doesn't need to have a family that works from home but he definitely loves to be around his people. A home with or without a dog would work for him but he does love to play around with our one dog. At first when meeting the cat he wasn't sure what to do or what to think of her and would seek her out but now he leaves her alone. Dakota spent 3 years living in a home with a family and because of that he knows how to behave in a home and is fully trained. He is full of love and ready to have a family to call his own who will love him right back. *Medical: Dakota was tested positive for Lyme (Borrelia burgdorferi) on May 14th, 2024. He has completed the recommended treatment by a registered vet and Dakota's demeanour has returned to normal. Note: Dakota had an old, healed fracture when found in Texas. This has been reviewed with specialists and was determined to be old and healed. This injury lead to one leg being a little bit shorter than the other. Dakota doesnt let this slow him down, he knows his body and when he needs a rest, he will take it. Proper nutrition, joint supplements and maintaining a lean body weight are key. *Behavioral: As FCR's focus is to ensure all the dogs in our care are being seen, prioritized and fully vetted. Dakota was seen by a professional behaviorist for a behavioral assessment prior to his intake back into our foster care.
