ANOTHER HAPPY ENDING! Adopted Oct. 2007!
What happens to a seven-year-old, purebred bloodhound when her human dies? If she’s lucky, she ends up at a no-kill shelter like ours, where she will be cared for by volunteers with lots of love to give. If she’s even luckier, someone out there with a soft spot for warm, droopy eyes and sweet, wrinkly faces will see her on petfinder and fall in love.
When she first came to us, Daisy was incredibly sad and lonely. In just a few days of soft words and patient attention from our volunteers, however, we saw a remarkable transformation. Daisy perked up and proved that she still has a lot of loving left to give.
UPDATE!!! Considered senior for a dog her size (112 lbs.), Daisy came to us with several medical issues, including dry eyes, badly infected ears, and a large mammory mass that we had removed. (Thankfully it was benign.) We're happy to report the only remaining issue of note is a leaky heart valve, which means at some point down the road she will develop congestive heart failure, which can be controlled with medicine.
Many people would look at a dog like Daisy and see “damaged goods.” We look at her and see a gentle giant who would be so grateful for a quiet home and a soft place to lay her wrinkly head. Daisy is good with kids, other dogs and cats ... a quiet and polite car-rider ... and the sweetest, gentlest soul you could ever wish to know.
