Dahlia

Dahlia is a big, beautiful girl who was brought into an overcrowded public shelter in Louisiana in September 2023 as a stray. She waited there for over 3 months, hoping to be adopted. Her amazing, kind personality is what kept her alive for so long at a "high kill" shelter, but sadly her time was running out in late December. Dahlia was rescued by a local group, moved to foster care, and is now looking for her forever home up North. She is a wonderful girl! We aren't sure of her breed mix, but likely some combination of Cur and Hound. She has lots of floppy skin and adorable wrinkles. Dahlia is estimated to be around 3 years old and is currently 60lbs and gaining. She should be around 70-75 lbs once at a healthy weight so she will be a big girl. Her foster mom says, "She is good with other dogs, ignores the cat and is very gentle and loving towards children. She has been around kids from age 8 down to a 2-year-old toddler (you can see some interactions in her videos). She is still learning how to accept love and affection. She enjoys it but she gets super excited and just rolls around. She is learning how to play with toys and the other dogs. She mainly loves being a couch potato! If you don't want a dog on your furniture, then Dahlia is not for you. She loves to cuddle. She is doing great with crate training and house training. She rides well in the car and is friendly when meeting strangers. She walks nicely on leash and is gentle when taking food or treats. She has the best face wrinkles ever and is such a sweet dog!
