My Story

ADOPT ME ONLINE: https://ophrescue.org/dogs/13693 Meet da Vinci! Estimated DOB: 05/12/2024 Current Weight: 16 lbs Breed: Shar Pei Mix - LOW SHEDDING! Estimated Adult Weight: 50-60 lbs (approx.) About da Vinci: da Vinci is an adorable little pup from our Artist Pups litter. With his silky ears, white and gold legs, and gorgeous brow spots that highlight his eyes in his chocolate brown soft fur face, this Shar Pei mix is sure to steal your heart. With his extremely short coat he will be low shedding, too. Personality: da Vinci is a sweet and affectionate puppy who loves playing with other pups and is very interactive. He is the wrestling superstar of his litter, showcasing all the moves. He can look like hes walking away and then jump back in for the win. da Vinci is also a strategic player, carefully planning his next move in play. See us in action here: Activity center play Pups with kid Pups outside Much like his namesake, Leonardo da Vinci, he is curious, intelligent, and observant. He displays a natural curiosity about everything around him and loves to explore his environment. His creativity shines through in his playful antics, and his intelligence makes him quick to learn new tricks and commands. da Vincis keen observation skills make him aware of every detail, and he approaches new experiences with a thoughtful and inquisitive demeanor. Training: da Vinci is at the perfect age to begin his training journey. Hes bright and eager to please, making him an excellent candidate for basic obedience training and housebreaking. With consistent positive reinforcement and a bit of patience, da Vinci will quickly learn new commands and behaviors, growing into a well-mannered and loyal companion. Ideal Home: da Vinci would thrive in a loving and active home where he can receive plenty of attention and exercise. He would be a great fit for families, singles, or couples who have the time and energy to dedicate to his upbringing. A home with a yard or access to outdoor spaces would be ideal for his playful nature. He would also enjoy the companionship of other dogs. Health: da Vinci is a healthy young pup and will come microchipped, and up-to-date on his vaccinations and deworming. Regular vet check-ups and a balanced diet will help him grow into a robust and healthy adult. Please note that da Vinci is so young, he has only received 2 of the required 3 puppy distemper vaccines. This is very IMPORTANT because it means that his immune system will not be fully functioning until about 16 weeks of age. Until then, he MUST stay out of public places where he could be exposed to the germs of other dogs. These no puppy zones include all pet stores, dog parks, and for apartment dwellers, areas used by other dogs. These requirements are strictly for da Vincis medical safety and longevity. If youre looking for a loving, energetic, and delightful new family member, da Vinci might be the perfect addition to your home. Apply today and see if hes the furry friend youve been searching for! To adopt fill out the simple online application at https://ophrescue.org Operation Paws for Homes, Inc. (OPH) rescues dogs and cats of all breeds and ages from high-kill shelters in NC, VA, MD, and SC, reducing the numbers being euthanized. With limited resources, the shelters are forced to put down 50-90% of the animals that come in the front door. OPH provides pet adoption services to families located in VA, DC, MD, PA and neighboring states. OPH is a 501(c)(3) organization and is 100% donor funded. OPH does not operate a shelter or have a physical location. We rely on foster families who open their homes to give love and attention to each pet before finding a forever home. All adult dogs, cats, and kittens are altered prior to adoption. Puppies too young to be altered at the time of adoption must be brought to our partner vet in Ashland, VA for spay or neuter paid for by Operation Paws for Homes by 6 months of age. Adopters may choose to have the procedure done at their own vet before 6 months of age and be reimbursed the amount that the rescue would pay our partner vet in Ashland.
