My Story

11/21/09 Cooper is starting to respond to his name and is learning to sit. He has made good progress on his crate training and in the morning will go right out and do his business. Since he is a puppy, he loves to chew. His favorite toys are tug toys. As he is growing he is starting to look more like a lab/shepherd mix (it's the ears!). He has not been cat tested but he loves all other dogs and he doesn't care if they are three times his size; he will still try to play with them. He is starting to get a little better on a leash but will need some basic obedience training. Update 11/10/09: Cooper (Hawk) has arrived in New Hampshire and he is so sweet. This 3 month old Lab Terrier mix weighs in at 13 pounds and loves everyone. He will play with small dogs as well as very large dogs. He is not shy at all. Being the puppy that he is, he likes to chew. We are working on crate and housetraining and he seems to be getting the idea. He is not a big fan of his crate but after a short while will settle down and sleep for the night. He seems to like toys that rattle or squeak. When he went to the vet's office to be weighed, they all thought he would be around 40-50 pounds when full grown.

They call him Cooperhawk, but he reminds me of the old cartoon of the Chicken Hawk...a little boy with a BIG personality. This little guy was brought in the big scary shelter at just about 3 weeks old, and has never known anything but. At first glance, he looks like he is going to be a big dog, but he won't be. Most likely he is mixed with something small like a Jack Russell etc (we don't know) and will probably (we are only guessing) going to be a med sized dog. We asked the vet and he said maybe mixed with a small terrier, but he did not see any pit in him.

His estimated DOB is 08/02/09 and he only weighed 9.2 lbs on 10/15/2009. He would love to find his very own forever home. He is scheduled to arrive in foster care on 11/7/09
