My Story

Cooper (02-135) is 8 years old, has been neutered, and is heartworm negative. Cooper was turned in by the owner who had had him for 1.5 years. At some point in this sweet dog's life, he was badly abused. Because of this, Cooper is very afraid of men and being trapped indoors. He is very skiddish and runs from unidentified or unexpected noises. He cowers at raised voices. Cooper prefers to be outside all the time. He would do best living openly in a fenced in yard with a dog house or shelter to stay in. After 9 months with his foster mother, Cooper does come inside fairly regularly but doesn't care to stay in overnight. Cooper rides well in the car. He really enjoys going for walks (in not too busy areas). He enjoys the company of other dogs, but prefers females. He behaves well during bath time (even the rinsing) and brushing is one of his favorite things in the world...along with vienna sausages and turkey pepperoni. Cooper has had a sad life and would require a very calm, quiet and patient family. He really is a very sweet and loving dog, he just needs to learn how to trust again.
