Connor gets along fine with other dogs and cats. He loves to romp and play with his foster mom's resident dogs, and he generally ignores the cats, even if they're on the run. Connor has a medium energy level, and would do fine in a home where he got daily walks and some off leash playtime. He doesn't need to be run ragged all the time!
Connor is house trained, crate trained, and walks fairly well on a leash. He hasn't had much in the way of obedience training, but he seems easy to correct and eager to please. He hasn't met any children, but his foster mom thinks this sweet, affectionate puppy would do fine with kids.
Please ask about this handsome, loving pup today!
Notes from our partner shelter: Connor was rescued by our partner shelter in Arkansas, A volunteer saw him on the side of the road bleeding, he had been hit by a car. He was rushed to the vet and luckily he did not suffer internal injuries but his paw had been fractured. There is nothing that can really be done about this except give it time. He does keep his paw up but that doesn't stop him at all.
Connor is still a baby at only 5 months old and loves to play with the resident dogs.He is very laid back for his age. He loves to loved by people. When he gets excited he does not jump on you but sits beside you and gives you his paw trying to get your attention. He is completely house and crate trained. He does great with the resident cats. When he see's them he goes over and sniffs them. If they run he does not chase them. He doesn't mind if other dogs eat out of his bowl or chew on his toys. He is a very sweet dog and his foster mom in Arkansas will shed some tears when he finds his forever home. And by the way-Connor is gorgeous.

This dog is Urgent because the Arkansas shelter where he/she resides is overfull. Please do not ask local shelters to take this dog in, there are many reasons why they cannot. Please also do not send us letters about why we euthanize, AHR does not euthanize, but the shelters we work with do. We are a rescue and we pull as many dogs as we have foster homes and funds for. We, like the shelter, do not have unlimited resources. Please, please: foster, adopt or sponsor a dog to help save their lives.
FOR PUPPIES: HOMES CONSIDERING PUPPIES MUST BE PREPARED FOR:
FLEXIBLE SCHEDULES FOR POTTY TRAINING-THEY CAN ONLY "HOLD" IT FOR ONE HOUR PER MONTH OF AGE.
CRATE TRAINING FOR THE NEXT 10 MONTHS TO KEEP THEM FROM CHEWING EVERYTHING IN SIGHT.
SUPERVISION WITH CHILDREN, AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING.
SOCIALIZATION-A GOOD DOG MUST BE EXPOSED TO ALOT OF STIMULUS AS A PUPPY SO THAT NEW PEOPLE AND ENVIRONMENTS DO NOT INTIMIDATE THEM AS ADULTS. THE MORE POSITIVE EXPERIENCES -IN AND OUT OF THE HOME- AS A PUPPY, THE BETTER.
HOMES THAT WANT TO HAVE GOOD DOGS, MUST BE PREPARED TO PUT THE TIME AND EFFORT INTO TRAINING A PUPPY. IT IS ALOT OF WORK!!! THEIR BEHAVIOR AND STAGES ARE EQUIVILENT TO A 2 OR 3 YEAR OLD CHILD. IT TAKES A FULL YEAR TO HAVE A CALMER, WELL ADJUSTED DOG! PLEASE DO NOT CONSIDER ADOPTING IF YOU HAVE NOT THOROUGHLY THOUGHT THROUGH THE PROS AND CONS OF A PUPPY...SO MANY PEOPLE END UP RETURNING THEM IN 3-5 MONTHS BECAUSE IT IS CHEWING, JUMPING AND HYPER. THIS IS NORMAL PUPPY BEHAVIOR.
PATIENCE, CHEWIES, SOCIALIZATION, SUPERVISION AND OBEDIENCE TRAINING IS A MUST!!
