My Story

Cletus Earl is a tri-colored, male basset straight from the shelter in Newton County Although weighing in as an ultra-light weight, this very handsome, 2-3 year-old all-purpose basset is sure to win your heart with just a few moments of getting to know him. He’s definitely a country boy and it’s quite possible that he had not ever been in a house before. Although in his “putting on some weight" foster home for just a few hours, he has already proven that he is going to be a sport and a lot of fun to have around. After meeting his three basset sisters, two labs came to visit. One look at the 7 month-old yellow lab and he was ready to play the “watch me lift my long ears, jump around and get you to chase me” game - a favorite by many a basset hound. And the lab was a true player and joined right in with the fun. Once Cletus Earl has put on a bit of weight over the next couple of weeks, he will undergo heartworm treatment and will be neutered. He will be ready for adoption in the early fall, so start making plans now to get to know this boy and let him work his way into your lives and hearts forever. He promises to be a “real keeper" and you don't want to miss out on the opportunity to have this special guy!
