My Story

THIS DOG IS NOT AT THE LAWRENCE COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY SHELTER. THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING FOR ANOTHER RESCUE GROUP. Cinnamon was rescued from an Appalachian West Virginia pound, where her stoic face and concentrated eye contact with her one blue and one brown eye made her foster mom stop in her tracks and read the legend on her kennel. Like so many other beautiful, unusual looking strays in this area, she had neither been claimed by her owners not had she garnered any attention by "shoppers" at the pound to get a "brand new, full stock" (purebred) dog/puppy rather than a 6 year old like Cinnamon whom they could clearly see has a fabulous, calm disposition. She seemed grateful for the "24/7" (by law 24/5) cage life in the pound because, at least, she was getting fed on a regular schedule and was a little reluctant to leave with her new foster mom not knowing that life as she had known it was about to improve enormously. Judging by her skeletal frame, this was a great improvement over what she had previously experienced. On 3/16/04 at the vet clinic, shortly after her rescue from death row, Cinnamon weighed only 44.8 lbs. though she stands 22" tall at the shoulder and her torso measures 20" from the base of her neck to the base of her tail. After two months of steady, quality nutrition, Cinnamon weighed 55.1 lbs. on 5/13/04. Her previously untreated ear infection was also treated and cleared up. Cinnamon is on good terms with the dogs of all sizes in her foster home as well as with the cats--some of whom are very dog friendly and will come up and lie next to the dogs when they are napping. She is as sweet and affectionate as she is pretty. Cinnamon has been heartworm tested, started on heartworm preventative, vaccinated, spayed and had her teeth cleaned. Are you worthy of her devoted affections for about the next 10 years? If so, call Kim Perry at (606) 638-0512 for more info.
