My Story

Donate Dober Duds CINNAMON. was picked up from an Indiana shelter where she had been dumped by her owners. The reason stated was that her owners have 3 toddlers at home and that Cinnamon snapped at one of them and just gets too nervous around them. She is petite and about 1 1/2 years old. Her coat is thick, shiny and soft and she is a beautiful color. Cinnamon is fully housebroken, and has never had an accident of any kind inside of the house during her stay with her foster family. She’d give you the “look” when she needs to go out; and if you still don’t figure out what she wants, she whines and gives you a harder look! Cinnamon does well in her crate- she goes right in and doesn’t make a peep until she is let out. She knows the commands “come”, “lie down” (pointing your finger to the floor) and “no,” but doesn’t know how to sit (she is a bright girl and we’re sure she’ll be able to learn in a day or two). She walks quiet well on a Halti leash but pulls with a regular collar. She might be small and on the skinny side, but she is muscular and there is a lot of power in that petite body. She plays well with the other dogs. She loves to run with our dobes that are about 7-8 years old, and the puppy in both of them has come out since she has been here. Cinnamon would lure our dogs into chasing her and shows off her speed as no dog can touch her when she zips through the yard zig zag’ing to fool our poor dogs. Cinnamon also loves to play ball, and will actually fetch it and bring it back to you if you throw it for her. She chews on plush stuffed-animal type toys, so we wouldn’t recommend giving this type of toys to her unless she is closely supervised. Cinnamon eats well and has good appetite. She isn’t food possessive, nor is she aggressive or defensive about bones or other toys she is chewing. She is also good about being around human food- no counter surfing or begging behavior whatsoever. She loves chewy hide bones, and seems grateful for any toys we give her to play with. One thing we found out that her forever home will need to know: Cinnamon does NOT like Nail Clippers. She seems very scared of these and actually ran away from us when we tried to clip her nails. However, she did extremely well with a Dremmel tool, and her nails are so soft that they just powder away with the right attachment. Cinnamon did very well when she got her bath- she held still and let us wash her (though she did act like something of a martyr at the time). Most importantly, Cinnamon is a very sweet and loving companion who loves to be petted and snuggle with you, even though she was a little wary at first. She rides in the car well, though it takes some patience to coax her up into the seat. So as you can see she will make a wonderful addition to a home with older or no children.
