My Story

3/17/10-Chloe has been adopted!!!

This beautiful girl is Chloe. Chloe and her sister Bella are approx. 13 weeks old. These 2 girls came to AWF when one of our volunteers happened to be in Petco and there was a gentleman there giving away these pups!! Our volunteer snached up these 2 girls just as someone there w/ their great dane wanted to take them to breed w/ their male. WOW-such a close call!! So, AWF took them in and placed them into foster care and we will now ensure that they are not allowed to breed, as they will be spayed in the next few weeks (spay contract will be enforced).

The girls are coming along great on their housetraining and have all their age appropriate puppy shots. These girls are sweet, fun, happy and cute as can be, but we don't need to tell you that they are going to get HUGE-so be sure your home, yard and lifestyle are ready for a great big girl.

If you are interested in Chloe or Bella, please contact Gretchen at [email protected] or 319-899-4720.

The first step to AWF's adoption process is to fill out an Adoption Application.
To download our adoption application, please click here. Completed applications can be sent as an attachment to [email protected].

The adoption fee is on a sliding scale; $250-$325. You decide the amount that is right for you to give. We have an all volunteer staff so your entire fee goes towards saving AWF's rescue animals. If your donation covers Chloe or Bella's medical costs, then the remainder of your donation will go towards helping save another homeless pet!

No adoptions outside of an approx. 50-mile radius of Jones County/Cedar Rapids/Iowa City/Waterloo. In some instances, we are able to make an adoption outside of the radius work (but this varies on a case by case basis and may depend on where you live). The limited radius is due to a mandatory home visit needing to be done at the adoptive home by a rescue volunteer.

Breed Disclosure: Due to the fact that most of our adoptable pets are strays, we can not guarantee their breed. We list the pet’s breed as the one that best matches the physical appearance, temperament, and personality of the animal. The pet may also be listed as a mix when it’s actually a purebred.
