My Story

I'm a spicy hot mama looking for my forever family! My name is Chili. I'm a 30-ish pound, 2 year old Red Heeler gal. I was caught by Animal Control in June. I was VERY pregnant and scheduled to be euthanized. Luckily for me, with only a couple of hours to spare before my time was up, the awesome folks at Rescue One saved me, and I was taken to a loving foster home in the nick of time. A few hours later, I gave birth to SEVEN healthy puppies. Now that my motherhood duties are behind me, I'm spayed and ready to be someone's beloved pet for the rest of my life. I am house trained and crate trained. I get along great with other dogs and dog-savvy cats, although I need slow introductions, since I can be dominant. I haven't met any kids yet, but I can be kid tested if needed. I am happiest when I am with my people and/or when I have a job to do (like herd cattle or learn new tricks). As a true herding dog, I enjoy herding the animals and people in my life. I would love to live on a farm and have another dog to hang out with, though I would be okay as an only dog if I get plenty of play time and attention from my people. I have a fondness for chewing, so providing me with bones and toys is essential to keep me engaged and occupied (I haven't chewed on anything I wasn't supposed to though). No apartment life for this girl. I am high energy, smart, playful, cuddly, and I aim to please. I know that with unconditional love, supervision and continued training, I am going to make a wonderful companion! I am a graduate of the Pups for Parole training program. I have all the basic training necessary to make a great companion. I will need a family willing to continue my training, I sure don't want to forget all that I've learned! My adoption fee is $150 and includes my spay/neuter, vaccinations, wellness exam, heartworm test, and microchip! **Petfinder inquiries are NOT official applications! If you're interested in meeting/adopting me, please visit www.rescueonespringfield.com/our-adoption-process/adoption-application/ and fill out the form! We do adopt out of state with vet references and video home check. *Adopter is responsible for coming to get the dog and returning the dog if the adoption does not work out* Don't forget to LIKE us on Facebook!-www.facebook.com/rescueonespringfield *Remember, dogs are pack animals. Because of this, Rescue One does not adopt to outdoor-only homes. Pets are family and are not disposable. Please make sure that you are 100% committed to a pet before considering adding one to your home. We are a foster-based organization, and we need more fosters to help us save more animals!
