Courtesy Posting: "I'm writing about CHICO, a good-looking, nice and very intelligent, cream-colored American Staffordshire mix puppy rescued from a shelter where his days were numbered. CHICO was surrendered by his family because they were moving. He is under 2 years-old. He was kept at the shelter for 2 months, but was at high risk, as the shelter was at capacity. A rescue, Crossed Paws, saved him and he is presently being fostered in a home environment. CHICO was very thin, as he had Coccidia, and a skin rash, probably as a result of a compromised immune system from the stress of being in the shelter. He is presently on medication and recovering quickly. He is in a home with an older dog who is jealous and protective, so it is not the best of arrangements. However, he is adjusting and learning some commands, and is settling in well to his new routine. He knows "sit," "come," "stay" and "leave it," although still learning to follow them all of the time. He is sweet, friendly, playful and starved for affection. He is neutered and has been vetted. He loves to be at your feet and be petted. He will make a great companion for someone who can continue to guide him and give him deserved love and attention. CHICO is not in the care of Animal Alliance, we will forward your application on to his foster mother who is placing him independently.

This pet is spayed or neutered in accordance with our strict policy wherein all animals are altered prior to adoption. This pet is dewormed, current on vaccines, and started on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
