My Story

8/27/10 Chewie is a wonderful dog looking for a forever home still. He is well trained but will need a firm person to let him know they are boss. He will play fetch or frisbee until he drops. He should have been called Micheal Jordan because he gets lots of air time while playing. He is crate trained and housebroken. He will make someone a wonderful forever friend. I thought I had found my forever home but I was recently returned to S.A.F.E. and my previous foster family.  My foster mom received a call from my former Dad saying that I needed to come back because my Dad had lost his job.  My Dad searched for a new job and found one - I thought I could stay but now my former Dad has to travel the majority of the month and has no time for me.  He knew it wasn't fair so he reluctantly called my foster mom who has welcomed me back with open arms and lots of kisses.  My foster mom has reassured me that there is a home out there for me, we just haven't found the perfect one.  So I go to sleep at night knowing that I am S.A.F.E. and I dream about the promise my foster mom told me - my forever home IS OUT THERE AND WAITING FOR ME!  I just have to be patient but in the meantime I will enjoy playing with all my foster siblings.   I have mastered the leash. I do a great job catching a frisbee. I am a dog that your active family would love to play with. I would love a home where I can be apart of the family and gets lots of pets.  I am a big boy with lots of love to give. I will kiss any dog that comes along. I want everyone to like me.  Toss a ball and you will have my attention. Give me a soccer ball and I am in heaven. Updated April 2, 2006 Chewie is one of the former boxer babies we had. He was adopted and the dog in his adoptive home started to attack him. The family said that Chewie would not do any thing to provoke it. After trying to work with both dogs the family felt they needed to return Chewie to keep him safe. They loved Chewie and hated to see him go. Chewie is a love. He loves other dogs and people. He is learning about cats in his foster home. Chewie would love to have another dog in his forever home but would not mind being an only dog. If he was an only dog he would get all the attention, he thinks. Chewie is affectionate and playful. He has been around children. Chewie is also housebroken. Chewie is loving the small foster puppies that come into his foster home. He plays very gently with them and lets them jump all over him. He also watches out for the 10 year old blind poodle in the foster home. He can be so sweet. He wants to please his person but is still a goofy big puppy. He loves to play and is learning to fetch. Sometimes he will chase the ball but forgets to bring it back. Please visit our official website at safeanimalhaven.org for more information about our group.
