ADOPTED 4-24-10, thank you Rose of Sandpoint, ID!~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~RETURNED 3-6-10. Charlie Brown, well, what do you know! One of our all time favorite puppies, all grown up now! The retired 60 something yr old couple we adopted him to has returned him after 4 months stating "he's too rambuncous".... Well, he's a 7 month old herding dog mix..... I'm thinking that would have been a no brainer???? But, hey, that's just me! Charlie is a lovely dog, around 40#'s and just as nice as nice can be. He's BEEN totally housebroken since he was 14 weeks old. He is very obedient, he loves people, all other pets and esp. his doggie friends here at the farm. He never once bothered a chicken here, but they say he's taken to chasing/biting their's. I'll let you know in a day or two if that's the case. When he left, he was the PERFECT farm dog. Charlie IS NOT and DOESN"T WANT to be the "playmate" or "sidekick" to your senior, crabby, arthritic, "on it's way out" dog. Charlie is a young, friendly, full of life, adolescent dog. It is my personal opinion that it is never a good idea to pair an old, slow dog with a young, active one. Charlie would actually much prefer to be the "big dog" of the place, and is a dog that would do really well as an "only child" or as the ONE big dog on the place, as he's used to small dogs and isn't intimidated by them. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~UPDATE 11-10-09. We've had Charlie going on a month now. I'm happy to report his heel nipping days are over. He is just about the easiest pup I've ever worked with. He is excellent with my 5 yr old daughter, no more sharp needle teeth on her fingers, and NO jumping up on her at all. He is excellent with cats, chickens, horses, goats, and cows. He shows no prey drive or desire to herd anything. He is mellow to the point of having me worried a couple times, but Dr. says that's just his nature, although the first few visits found parasites GALORE. Worms, tapes/rounds, Giarrdia, and Coccydia. Can you imagine the filth those people live in with the 10 other dogs they still have? Poor Charlie is lucky that we were able to get him and his sister out of that situation. He has a 100% clean bill of health now and is going to make someone an incredible friend. He would do best in a home where his people dote on him, and even better, were retired or worked from home, so he could lay by your feet and follow you around when you move. He is so good, you never even know he's there. He follows me everywhere on the farm, to each animals area, and then just lays down about 10 feet way and waits patiently to move on to the next chore. He's completely crate trained now, and about 80% housebroken. *********************************************************************************************************************IN 10-10-09, owner surrender, too many dogs.... 12 wks old at the time of this posting. Going to be an EXCELLENT family type, mixed breed, super intelligent, great dog. Already crate trained, sleeping thru the night and mostly housebroken. VERY "herdy" tho, so probably best in a home without little kids to chase around and "herd". We'll work on this......FOR OFFICE USE ONLY: ADOPTED 11-28-09 Thank you Linda of Post Falls, ID! Returned 6-5-10 "have no time for/can't handle" "boredom digging/chewing" *********** 4-13-10 ADOPTED thank you Denise, Post Falls, ID! ****************** 4-16-10 RETURNED "old dog hated/wouldn't eat/got depressed"
