My Story

Meet Charlie! Charlie is a German Wirehair Pointer found scrounging in a garbage can for food by a wonderful person who saw that he was starving. She coaxed him into her truck with peanut butter pretzels. After taking him home, Charlie's rescuer tried to find his parents to no avail. She couldn't keep him so she found a place for him to stay until he could gain some weight and find his forever home. Charlie is currently living with his foster mom, two canine siblings and four feline siblings. (Charlie is cat aggressive read below.)

Charlie was taken to the vet the same day he was found and the vet said he is between 1-3 years old and is completely healthy except for not having enough to eat. Since Charlie has been in his foster home, he has been steadily gaining weight. And, after a bath and some good food, he just keeps getting more handsome every day.

Charlie loves attention from anyone who wants to give it to him. And, with one look at his face, how could you not?! He's a sweet boy who still has some puppy traits. Charlie is very intelligent, learning his name within the first 24 hours. He picks everything up very quickly but is still learning to calm down enough to listen when he's very excited. When he gets excited, all you have to do to calm him down is rub his neck. Instantly, he becomes Mr. Docile and you'd never know he had any energy at all. Charlie loves to be petted and have his neck rubbed. And, if he doesn't get enough, he will come over to you, gently lay his head on your leg looking like his world just crashed down on him. He's impossible to resist.

Charlie would love to go to a home where he has someone home with him a lot of the time. It can be his new mom or dad or another canine sibling. He loves to play with his foster canine siblings. He can't have any feline siblings, though. He's a pointer through and through. He is currently separated from his foster feline siblings. Charlie will also need a fenced yard, preferably 5 foot tall.

Charlie is house trained. Currently Charlie is being crated while his foster mom is away because of the feline siblings in the house. They're getting braver and so is he; we don't want any accidents in the house while they are unattended.

Update 3/24/07: We have removed the 'no small children' designation. The only reason we had that initially is because Charlie liked to steal food. He has become much better about listening and not just grabbing any food he can get a hold of.

Are you the forever home Charlie is looking for? If so, please call Lisa at 435-752-3534 or email [email protected]. His adoption fee is $150.
