Carl the Corgi

Meet our newest rescue - Carl came from a high-kill shelter in Ohio. We scooped him up at his last hour. The shelter staff told us how great he was and they didn't exaggerate one iota. Carl just went to his foster home on March 22 but she has given him glowing recommendations. In fact, she tells us that he is SO well behaved that he is making her 3 dogs look bad! Carl LOVES everyone, including her 8 year old daughter and the other dogs. He even loves his crate.

Carl is about 2 years old. He weighs about 32 pounds and will not get any larger. Being a Corgi mix, he's got those cute little legs. Our transport volunteer tells us that Carl was the perfect little gentleman in the car and rode in the passenger seat like he had been doing it every day of his life. He said Carl was as sweet as he could be and was thrilled we saved him.

Carl has been to the vet is and up to date on all his shots. He will be neutered March 30. We do require a fenced in yard for Carl.

In case you are interested in this breed: Corgi's are active, intelligent and athletic dogs, despite their short legs and stocky body. Their short legs may seem to be a disadvantage, but they can run faster than the average dog can. This breed is easily trained. If a Corgi is not kept moderately active or if they are overfed, they can easily become obese. Obesity can end a Corgi's life prematurely due to the stresses on the spine and can lead to secondary diseases such as osteoarthritis.

ADOPTION PROCESS:

Please note: You must be at least 25 years old to adopt a dog from us. Sorry, we do not adopt to apartment dwellers.

First, you send us an e-mail expressing interest. We send you an application, answering any questions you may have.
We then review the application to determine if the dog is a good match for you and your lifestyle. We will contact your references and veterinarian.

If we choose to move forward, we set up a time for you to come out and meet the dog. After you meet the dog, if you are still interested and we still believe you and the dog are a good match, we conduct a home visit.
