Foster Homes Needed! If you'd like to foster for Planned Pethood fill out the application at Dog Foster Application

All Planned Pethood dogs and puppies are altered (spayed/neutered) and fully vetted prior to adoption. Dog breed is a best guess by the vet and/or Petfinder breed expert findings. We cannot guarantee breed, weight, age of dogs or final adult size of puppies.

Camille is a 11-12 week old, 16.6 pound English mastiff/boxer mixed puppy (we think) who was surrendered to Planned Pethood. Camille is a very sweet little girl. She is currently working on her housebreaking issues, which is going very well. She is also being introduced to some basic obedience, such as Sit, No, and Settle. Camille is also learning to ring a bell when she needs to go outside. She loves my dogs, especially Winter, my other foster baby. I have three cats and she wants to play with them, but they aren't too keen on that idea so if you have a cat, be prepared for her to harass it until she learns to leave cats alone. She is crated when I am not home and doesn't cause a fuss about being in the crate. At night, her crate is next to my bed and as long as she knows I am there, she lays down and will play with her bedtime toy or will go to sleep. She loves to be outside so I would prefer that her new home have a fenced in yard. She is a very happy little girl and is always wagging her tail. Knowledge of the mastiff breed is required with this adoption. Local area adoptions only. About the breed: The English mastiff is the largest of the mastiff breed. Females range from 100 to 150 pounds when full grown. They do not require a lot of exercise and the golden rule is to never take your puppy for a walk any further than you want to carry them back. They get tired very easy. Most mastiff puppies will sleep quite a bit. When it comes to play time, they are a little different. If they are in a shy stage, you will have a very hard time getting them to play. It is never good to rough house with a mastiff puppy since you don't want them to rough house when they are full grown. The shy stage of a mastiff puppy will come and go. Usually around 8 - 10 weeks of age, they will go through one and then a couple later down the road. Mastiffs are very sensitive dogs and don't handle yelling and unfair treatment very well. When dealing with correcting behavior issues, it has to be done with sensitivity. Raising your voice can send these guys back into a state of shyness very easily. For an extra large breed dog they are very gentle. They are very good family dogs and love attention. The Mastiff is very dependent on his owners, and needs to be close to them as much as he can. They are a combination of grandeur, dignity, and courage; calm and affectionate to its master, but capable of guarding. The breed is innately good natured, calm, easygoing, and surprisingly gentle. It is a well-mannered house pet but needs sufficient room to stretch out. This is an extremely loyal breed and is devoted to its family and good with children.
