My Story

Meet Buttercup Aliases: Butters, Butter Butt, Little Sister, Velcro, Mom’s Shadow Buttercup is a 45#, 1 year old lab mix (DOB ~ 6/1/2023). She has been with her foster family for about 5 months now. She was originally only supposed to be with her foster until after a cold spell passed but once her foster mom met her she couldn’t let this sweet girl go back to the shelter. The most important thing to know about Buttercup is that she LOVES people. She wants to be wherever the people are hanging out and is affectionately referred to as her mom’s shadow. She will greet anyone who comes inside with a toy as she does the full body wiggles of excitement. She’s a wonderful combination of spurts of playful puppy energy and lazy girl cuddling on the couch for hours. She’s a fast learner and is currently working on her basic commands with her foster. She has mastered sit and down already and is eager to please and very food motivated. Buttercup loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with some big four-legged siblings that would enjoy her puppy play style. She loves all people but would do best with bigger kids only because she still has a bit of that little jumpy, puppy energy when she gets excited. She enjoys sunbathing when the weather is nice and will provide free mole control (but doesn’t dig for the heck of it). Other than food and her people, Buttercup loves her toys and has been spoiled rotten with them at her foster mom’s. She will happily chew her bones on the couch beside you or in her kennel and bring you her rope for a good game tug-o-war. Buttercup is fully house trained and crate trained. She is used to being in the crate for 8-9 hours while her foster is at work and tolerates it just fine but would adore a mom/dad that worked from home. This sweet girl had a bumpy start to life but absolutely nothing has put a damper on her sweet and fun personality. Buttercup does have some food allergies but that was easily resolved with a change in food/treats. She does best with her kennel in a central location in the house or at least not behind a shut door if she is kenneled while someone is home. She doesn’t make a fuss if no one is at home. Buttercup would bring lots of love and fun to any family and deserves a chance to have that. Buttercup is currently in TN but will be transported north to New England for adoption. The adoption donation is $300 which includes a health certificate and costs for the transport north. If you are interested in adopting one of our animals, please go to www.angelsamongusanimalrescue.org and fill out an online adoption application. Thank you! *Unless stated otherwise, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, on flea/tick product and heartworm prevention medicine (if older than 5 months) and micro chipped prior to adoption. *Please note that while we do our best to accurately state the breed or breed mix of a dog, we often have very limited information to draw from. Identifying the breed without pedigrees and information on heritage can be very challenging!
