Buster was either set free by his previous owner or got loose and no one came looking for him. He was a wonderfully sweet Pointer who showed signs of being gun shy. He had to be watched at first due to his nature lead him to kill birds as they swopped by. As time passed Buster over came his drive to kill moving birds.
Buster lived a long healthy life until the very end. He put up with all the rescue animals coming and going and even though the Bassett tried to take off his ear in Dec 2007 Buster never tried hurting Elvis. Buster loved these special dog bones and looked to his mommy daily for those speical treats. Although he had cancer once he survived the surgery and lived with his bad heart and kidneys going. Unfortunately out of no where he had several grand mal seizures on 2/16/2009. We do not know why but our vet thinks he may of had a stroke, or had a tumor in the brain. They put him on medicine and we hoped for the best. Unfortunately he had another seizure the next day and we could not let him suffer. Sadly we had to let our baby go on to heaven. Buster left this world in a graceful manner and he no longer has to suffer.
Buster was one of the best dogs we had always friendly to everyone he met. He put up with so many dogs and always remained a wonderfully sweet boy. He was so easy to housetrain and when we first took him in he had tatoo's in his ears, had number 77 painted on his body with shoe dye. Thankfully outside of last year with a tumor removed and a fatty tumor Buster never was sick. He had one injury once that we think he was bitten by a posionous snake which left two puncture bites with one going all the way through his jaw bone. Outside of that Buster was a very healthy boy. He loved dog beds, he loved laying on his special rugs. Buster put up with Boomer our corgi who use to bite his rear legs in the earlier days. Buster loved his mom and daddy and we will miss him so much.
We feel so horrible that being in rescue we never got to take Buster out as much as we would of liked too. We know he will forgive us but the one thing that hurts us the most is how people can discard their pets, and especially the older kids. It makes us feel so sad in rescue because we want to help them but we just do not have the resources to do so. We struggle with any age and hope that with people caring enough to support our rescue we can help some seniors at times. We loved our Buster and will never forget him. He was very special boy indeed and we were so honored to have given him a loving home from 5/98 to 2/09. His honrary birthday is around 5/1994. Our vet felt last year he was at least 15 years old but regardless we would of loved for him to stayed with us longer.
Goodbye our sweet Buster you are now happy and whole again and in a better place. We know you are now frockling the greener pastures with your former siblings Lady Bug and Brownie and the gang. We will never forget you and will see you again one day in heaven. Carpenter family's very special Pointer who was one of the most loving dogs we had the honor of rescuing and giving a home too.
