Approximate age: 10 years of age, but don't let his age fool you. He still has a lot of spunk!
Personality: You might expect a dog that had been treated with such indifference to be wary and aloof. Nothing could be further from the truth with Buster B. He has embraced his new life with absolute joy! This sweet guy will come up, lay his head in your lap and look at you with total adoration, his dark eyes shining, as if to say, "You are the best person I have ever met!" What a self esteem builder!
You might not call him gorgeous, with his bony head, long neck and skinny tail. He may remind you of a brontosaurus, but give Buster a few minutes and you will find his personality so winning that you'll be thinking that a brontosaurus dog was just what you were hoping for.
In his foster home, Buster has been social and welcoming to all visitors. He is gentle around frail older folks and tolerant of young children (although he seems to believe that any cracker held at a dog's eye level was meant to be shared).
He adores the company of other dogs and is always up for a wrassle in the grass with another pup and acts half his age. Don't mistake this 10 year old for a couch potato. He loves walks and settles to the leash quickly. His foster family found that after a period of acclimation, that he was trustworthy on off leash hikes in the woods. Watching his joyful running is a true pleasure.
Buster B knows several basic commands and is generally mannerly in the house (though he will sneak up on the couch when you are not looking). Our dark-eyed friend is equally comfortable bedding down in a crate or on the floor of a family member's bedroom. He can be trusted in the house while family members are gone too.
While Buster has recently developed an issue with urine dripping he is being treated for this issue and we will update his profile as we know more about his treatment.
Forever home: Buster B spent his entire life in the company of other dogs and it is clear that he feels most comfortable with a canine companion. This will be a must for his new family. Although he doesn't demand a daily walk like his younger counterparts, he still needs the stimulation and healthful benefits of exercise so his family should consider their ability to provide it several times weekly through walks, hikes or trips to the dog park.
The foster family has discovered that Buster B is reliable staying in their unfenced backyard with supervision. He might be a good choice for someone looking for a dog that will stick around while gardening, sunning or tending the bar-b-que (especially if there is a leftover hotdog for a friendly dog).
This ole' boy does not have a decade of companionship to offer his adoptive family. But each day spent with this endearing dog will be one of great sweetness, loving companionship and the knowledge that a wonderful dog has finally found the life he deserves!

Pre-Adoption Application::
To be considered for a dog, it is best to submit a pre-adoption application. The Pre-Adoption Application can be downloaded from our website - http://www.waggintailsdogrescue.org/adoptionprocess.html. Just complete the application and email it back to [email protected].
Waggin' Tails Adoption Information: Waggin' Tails Dog Rescue has a standard adoption fee of $175, $275 for small breed dogs or $200 for puppies plus a $50 deposit which is returned upon proof of spay/neuter at six months of age. Our adoption process includes an application, vet reference checks, and a home visit.
We do not have a facility; all of our dogs are fostered in private homes. To view our dogs, please check
www.waggintailsdogrescue.org for the dates of our next adoption events. With few exceptions, we show our adoptable animals on Saturdays from 12pm - 3pm at PetSmart in Northville (on Haggerty Rd between 6 and 7 mile) or PetSmart in Canton (the northwest corner of Ford Rd and Haggerty Rd). Arrangements can be made to meet our rescue dogs outside of Saturday adoption events after an approved application is submitted (the application does not imply an obligation by the applicant or by the rescue group).
Please be kind to our volunteers who have made rescue a second job that they do in their spare time after coming home from full-time jobs. E-mail inquiries will be answered much more quickly than phone inquiries; our phone number is a voice mailbox only.
Thank you for your support of rescue and your interest in a rescue dog!
