My Story

Buddy is a beautiful boy who was lucky enough to be saved by a wonderful group in Naples - Wee Waggin Rescue - one of their volunteers couldn’t bear the idea of Buddy being euthanized and stepped up to save him. Wee Waggin Rescue focuses mainly on smaller dogs and asked us to help with Buddy. He’s a very precious senior gentleman who deserves to be loved and appreciated for the rest of his life. Can you find it in your heart to be the next Good Samaritan in Buddy’s life?

Buddy’s Foster Mom tells us:
"Buddy is a friendly 9-year-old Golden Retriever. But don’t let his age fool you; he has energy and personality to spare! Buddy loves to go on walks and play in our back yard; he has even ran a mile with me on a few occasions. He is in great health and is not showing any signs of arthritis or hip problems.
"His beautiful blond coat and gentle manner make Buddy a perfect companion to any person or animal. From the moment I brought Buddy into my house, we instantly bonded. He follows me from room to room and stays by my side, as if we have been friends for years, and not months.
"Buddy not only relates well to people but to pets as well. We have a young and energetic border collie mix and a cat, both of which he loves to play with. Buddy and our dog Penny love to play tug-of-war and run around in the yard. He also gets along very well with our cat, who has occasionally been caught grooming Buddy’s long fur. It is not unusual for us to find all three animals curled up sleeping together.
"Not only is Buddy sweet and playful, he is one of the smartest dogs I know. We have nick-named him the escape artist because he has figured out how to let himself out of his kennel. He did this by lifting the roof of it and pulling the front wall in on himself; smart dog! He has also figured out how to open doors and he gets himself drinks of water from the water dispenser on our refrigerator! We have taught him to sit, stay, shake, and give “high-fives,” but I am sure he would love to learn many more tricks."

Buddy came to us on 09/27/09 and is currently in one of our wonderful foster homes for evaluation and lots of love. All of our dogs stay in their foster homes for a minimum two week evaluation period, then remain there until their forever home finds them.

If you are interested in learning more about Buddy, please contact us at [email protected] for additional information and an adoption application.

We serve Southwest Florida from Naples to Sarasota, and sometimes slightly beyond if needed. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs but live outside our usual area of operations, please state that in your initial contact with us. This will allow us to ascertain whether we have volunteers in your area who would be able to assist in processing your application; unfortunately, there are some locations that we are simply unable to cover.
