Buddy a sometimes grumpy senior

Buddy, affectionately called Bubaba is a senior chihuahua mix with a sometimes grumpy demeanor. At nearly 14-years old he found himself abandoned at a small rural animal shelter with limited capacity. Bubba had arthritis, several rotten teeth, was about 8 pounds overweight and had a bad attitude. The shelter was code red. Things were looking pretty bleak for our Bababa. CCAC took one look at him and recognized that he was worthy of intervention. We were right! We felt Bubba’s urgency and his circumstance was dire. We tagged him and got him vet care immediately. He thankfully was heartworm negative, had three teeth pulled, and was xrayed for evaluation. His X-rays revealed previous healed injuries, possibly indicating he was likely abused in his prior life. He has arthritis but is otherwise healthy. He gets joint supplements and a monthly Lebrela which has helped him tremendously. PLUS he is down eight pounds, weighing in at the appropriate weight of twelve pounds! He is feeling much better. Since his intake Bubaba is now weighing about 13 pounds; he has lost about six pounds. He is thriving in his multi-dog home; and a pretty happy guy. He loves pets and will gladly crawl onto your lab to take a snooze or be adored. He is happy and enjoying life. He does not liked to be picked up. He is fully house trained and a great house companion. We feel Buddy would love to have his own person and perhaps another dog or two that will idolize him rather than sharing is home with multiple dogs as he is now. His foster adores this special guy and wants what is best for Bubs but is not in a hurry for him to leave.
