My Story

BUDDY IS UP FOR ADOPTION. He is a gentle gentleman. Around two years old. He is a little shy but is coming out of his shell. He is dog friendly and is fixed! His adoption fee has been sponsored. He will need a fenced yard and would be a great companion! Here is what his rescuer says about him! It gives a great insight on what she did and the time she took to get this gentle giant off the streets "Buddy: Back in January of 2023 I saw a dog roaming off Strothers and called it in. They couldn't find him. Later that month I saw what appeared to be the same dog running down my street. I watch for lost dogs and this one was definitely out of place but he had a routine and in his mind, absolutely no need for me. I tried to call him every day to no avail. He disappeared during spring and fast forward to summer I started seeing him again. 9:00 am and just after dark. I found that he was hanging out in a culvert and started feeding him in that spot twice daily. He would stay 10 feet away, in the safety of the culvert but would stay to hear me talk to him leaning into the culvert just listening. He softened when I would tell him what a good boy he was as if he heard those words before. It was then that I started feeding him in the evening at my house. I would wait until just after dark, ring a bell (Pavlov style) and he would appear! He would spook easily and often would wait until after the inside lights were off but he would come every night. I knew at this time would be our best shot at finally saving him. This beautiful boy was finally and gently trapped and is safe! He is beautifully gentle and so deserving of a home with love and a fenced yard as he has been a free spirit for over a year. He has no scarring that would indicate previous fights. Good with other dogs but will hang back a bit...for now. He walks on a leash and is currently being worked with on walking and basic commands. He can be fed straight from the hand. He is a dream dog opportunity, out of his rambunctious "teenage years" and wants to please. He is full grown around 18months to 2 years and is neutered. Everybody needs a Buddy and he is ready to go!!!
