My name is Buddy and I'm currently fostered in San Antonio. Like many of you, I gained a bit of weight over COVID, so I am a little thicker then I would like to be, but I am active.
I've been in foster care a really long time. I think part of the reason is that I look like a plain, brown dog. I am not super handsome but I do work for a living!
How cool is that? I am currently what is called a helper dog for LOMA Behavior and Training. What does that mean? It means that I am so good on leash and nonreactive, that I help teach aggressive or reactive dogs that seeing another dog isn't such a bad thing.
I live with two cats in my foster home. I do like to play with them and we hang out. But I am not a fan of the outdoor feral cats that come in my yard.
I am nervous around new people at first but I have a great memory, so on the second or third visit, we are BESTIES! My foster is actually the famous Dr. Lorraine Martinez who owns LOMA, so she has been working with me on not being so anxious around new people. But I am still working on some noise phobias (fireworks and thunder) and of course, the barking when the doorbell rings.
I am house trained and crate trained and I love bully sticks and long walks. I ride well in the car.
I weigh about 55# and am about 6-7 years old.
** I do have a weird issue-my guarding of random things, like dead or living roaches. As soon as I see them, I focused on something and stiff...but my foster mom can go pick it up and I'm fine again.
IDEAL HOME:
The best home for me is one with a fenced yard and lower foot traffic. I would prefer to be an only dog in the home, but I don't have problems seeing dogs on walks. I would be happy to live with friendly cat or two, but I need to be fed separately....I would like to be with a low key couple or single human. While I did live with kids a few years ago, younger nosy kids would probably stress me out too much.
I am available for meet and greets so just complete an application from the adoptables tab at www.pawsa.org and Dr. Martinez will connect with you to set it up.
