Buck

Oh deer, buckle up – This guy will surely capture your heart! This is Buck, a three-year-old retriever/Shepard mix. He was picked up as a stray and the staff at animal care services did everything they could to try and find a rescue for him. On the day he was supposed to be euthanized, we were contacted and a team of fosters stepped up to save him. “Team” because the primary foster was leaving on vacation two days later for two weeks. So, Buck bounced around to one foster for one week, who had three large dogs of varying ages. He did great with that pack. Then, she left on vacation, so he moved the following week to a foster as an only dog in an apartment and did great. The following week he was able to go to his primary foster home where he is now. He lives with a small, older terrier mix and two teenage boys. Buck is very adaptable and would do great in most environments. He would be fine as an only dog or would be great with another dog or two. Despite his broken past, he is very social, loving, playful and just has a happy-go-lucky attitude. He is not skiddish in the slightest and even did fine in a neighborhood with annoying fireworks on the fourth of July. He didn’t seem phased by them. He is also house trained and goes into his kennel on command. He loves car rides has good house manners. He is such a handsome boy and very athletic. He enjoys his walks every morning and has a few favorite toys. He is affectionally been nicknamed “paddles” in his foster home. Most of the time when he sleeps, he sleeps with his front legs out on each side and even lays down to eat that way.
