Brutus

Brutus has gone from death row dog to a dog who is ready for his forever home. Here is what Cody, his foster mom, has to say about him: "Brutus (we've been calling him Guinness as "Brutus" didn't slide easily off the tongue) has settled in beautifully to our home. I'd recommend him go to someone with breed experience, as he definitely has a cattle dog personality. He is high drive and will go for hours if given the opportunity, but is silent in his crate (even crates himself!) and is picking up how to voluntarily settle in the house. He doesn't like overly friendly, pushy or dominant dogs. He doesn't start problems and is very neutral as long as other dogs are minding their own business. Although I think he'd thrive in an only-dog home, I think he'd be fine living with a dog who respects boundaries, given a slow introduction. He's very respectful of my cat, but I wouldn't recommend he go to a home with a cat who isn't dog-savvy. He's friendly with the people he's met lately, but can be cautious and slightly apprehensive when we're around new people. Even in moments where he fixates on something, he appropriately redirects very quickly and is very handler-oriented. I think he'd do phenomenally in many different dog sports and/or would make a great hiking partner. He is very intelligent and walks nicely on a leash, has a sit, down, stay, recall, and place. He's a really great, well-rounded dog with a lot of potential!" Cory, his foster mom, has also offered to donate a few lessons to his new forever family, either in person or virtually.
