Bruce

Big boy Bruce! Black lab mix at 90lbs. He is very gentle walking on a leash, however he may try to chew it before you get it hooked to his collar, so you gotta be quick! Once the leash is on, he walks at a gentle pace and does not pull at all! If he sees a small animal like a rabbit or squirrel he simply stops and stares. He is a good balance of playful energy and cuddle bug/couch potato. However because of his size and strength, he is too much for small kids. In a home with a 6, 5, and 3 year old, he was too much for them and accidentally knocked them down and stepped on them. But he was gentle and easy with the kids while outside on a leash. He would be perfect with older kids (10 yrs old +). He is a quick food thief and thinks shoes are chew toys, but with some training I believe he would learn to stop those behaviors. He occasionally play nips or will lightly put his teeth around your hand while playing. He usually listens when told “no” or “stop”. Nylabones held up very well and any chew toy that isn’t kong material won’t last more than a day. He loves his sturdy chew toys! He was only a little curious about the cat in the home, and was happy to give the cat his space most of the time. He was always interested in meeting other dogs on walks and I believe he would do best in a home with another dog he can play with. He knows a few commands! He knows: “sit” and “lay down” and “go to bed”. We are still working on the “stay” command. He does extremely well traveling in the car too! No panting or stress. In a minivan with one bucket seat folded into the floor, he had the space to lay down comfortably and he was quiet and slept. He is not afraid of loud noises like the vacuum cleaner, hair dryers, or the lawn mower. He would benefit from some training and he would make anyone very happy! My partner and I love him and if our kids were bigger he’d be here to stay! Bruce is almost 2 years old. His adoption fee is $350.
