BRUCE

Bruce is a sweet and affectionate boy! He was an owner surrender and prior to coming to the noisy, stressful shelter he was apparently entirely indoors, including for toileting. He has done very well house-training and had far fewer accidents than we anticipated given his history. He also took to his kennel very quickly and has done very well adapting to it. He eats his meals (inhales them!) in his kennel, and also sleeps in the kennel overnight. We are working on puppy manners and leash training (he appears to have not ever been on a leash before the shelter), but he is smart and treat motivated. He is a very delicate treat taker! We have made a lot of progress with significantly decreasing playful nipping. We have seen no evidence of destructive/chewing behavior - he has only chewed on toys. Bruce loves other dogs! He is working on learning dog communication better, and right now can sometimes still be a little too eager in his interactions with our dogs, but is not aggressive. He had great play group notes at the shelter. Bruce seems like he would be a great dog for the dog park and being out and about. He also has gone on some short runs and seems like he would be a great running partner for someone looking for that kind of companionship. He enjoys exploring the backyard. We do not have cats or children, so have not seen him interact with either, but his general disposition is curious and nonreactive. He seemed to like the pup pool at the shelter the day we met him, and is very curious about the shower, so we think he is probably a water lover. He loves giving and receiving kisses and affection!
