My Story

Meet Brooklyn! This lady is 5 years young and full of spunk. Now that her puppies have been adopted she's looking for her own forever home. She is about 45lbs in a compact little body. Brooklyn is happy to snooze all day, but when it's time to go, she'll go! Want to hike for 5 hours? She'll be sniffing and zooming right alongside for you. Like to kayak? She'll chill out on the passenger side and watch you paddle. Want to dabble in agility or doggy workout equipment? Brooklyn would practically parkour for a piece of kibble or a “good girl” from her favorite human- she learned how to walk on a treadmill within just a few minutes. She's got amazing food drive, and is happy to learn as long as it stays fun! With that being said, she's currently living with a trainer, who will show her adopter everything she's learned on adoption day. One of Brooklyn’s strengths is also one of her few flaws. She loves her human a little too much, and is learning that it's not end of the world if her human walks away from her, or if she needs to be crated. She's made a ton of progress with the crate when someone is home and happily sleeps through the night, but is still working on some anxiety when first left alone (fortunately she does calm after the initial panic and when cameras are checked she is often napping). Resources will be shared on how to continue working through this. Brooklyn walks very well on leash and is neutral to people, animals, and loud noises. She enjoys the company of other dogs and the resident cats. She has shared her home with guest dogs of many ages/genders/temperaments and goes to work where she's exposed to many more. She prefers to chill out and sniff around and will generally ignore doggy play. The couple of times she played with the other resident dog she played very rough and loud, but took appropriate breaks. She is often aloof with strangers but sometimes approaches with a wagging tail for butt scratches. She once displayed discomfort with a stranger handling her excessively, so it's important to advocate for her. A home without young children may be best. All in all Brooklyn is a loving, lovable lady looking for a home to call her own, where she can get cuddles and adventures with her very own humans.
