My Story

Courtesy Posting: RESCUE ONLY AND X URGENT AT CARSON/LA COUNTY SHELTER IN GARDENA, CA (S CAL) - BRODY - ID #A5627410 YOUNG, STUNNING CHOW ON BITE QUARANTINE FACING EUTHANASIA AT CARSON/LA COUNTY SHELTER- NEEDS A CHOW SAVVY FOSTER AND RESCUE ASAP. Young Brody was dragged in on a catch pole after his owner surrendered to the shelter for allegedly biting his after trying to remove a leash which he didn’t like. Owner surrender notes state Brody “likes to snuggle in bed, knows some dog tricks, he grooms himself”. However, the owner also said he can be “unpredictable”, but there are no notes that the owner ever sought training or a reason they never bothered to neuter this dog that may have helped. At the shelter, Brody can be seen in several videos just sitting there with zero aggression and acting sweet and a bit shy or scared like many chows get. We are now looking for a chow savvy foster (or foster to adopt) to refer to a rescue group who can also seek proper training so we can save this boy. Otherwise, he will be euthanized shortly after his bite quarantine ends on 5/31. Brody is said to weigh 60 lbs and be 3 years old and is stunning, his shelter pictures do not do him justice. The shelter vaccinated him there since he apparently was not vaccinated before or current on such. He has no reported medical issues. If you are seriously considering fostering or rescuing, we can provide more information. He is not adoptable from the shelter, but could possibly be fostered to adopt through a willing rescue. This is his listing link: https://animalcare.lacounty.gov/brody-a5627410.html Interested fosters or foster-to-adopt should contact [email protected] or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist the shelter with his placement, given rescue groups also need a foster to usually save a dog. Rescue groups only should contact the shelter by calling the Carson/LA County shelter at (310) 523-9566 and ask for his ID and also emailing [email protected].
