THIS DOG IS NOT IN THE LAWRENCE COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY SHELTER. THIS IS A COURTESY LISTING FOR ANOTHER RESCUE GROUP WHOSE MEMBERS ALSO FOSTER FOR OUR SHELTER. Bridget was pulled from an Appalachian high-kill shelter the day she would have been gassed to help make room for 50-60 dogs who were being confiscated in a cruelty case. She was labeled "no name" as are a vast number of dogs impounded in Appalachia to prevent wasting a name a dog won't keep long enough to get used to a name. Bridget was just another pretty female dog discarded in Appalachia because "they keep having litters." This long legged beauty, who stands 20 inches at the shoulders and measures 22 inches from the base of her neck to the base of her tail, is fully grown. On 1/9/04, a day after her rescue, she weighed 34.4 lbs. and was estimated at 2 years of age. In between playing with the many other dogs in her foster home, she likes to socialize with two dog-friendly cats and has shown signs of being a good candidate for obedience training--such as sit and gimme your paw. Bridget never met another dog, cat or person she did not like. If you have a dog-friendly cat, Bridget would be VERY happy as she likes to lie on the floor and fake wrestle a like-minded cat in her foster home, along with a lot of play barking an growling. Think of Bridget as Brains, Beauty and Bountiful love and it is the next best thing to meeting her.
