My Story

ADOPTION PENDING! Bosco has found a local family to call his very own. This wonderful family recently had their senior Pemmie pass away in her sleep and their hearts ached to fill the emtpy void her absence had left. The found our Bosco Bear and realized it was a match made in heaven! Bosco is basking in their attention and already adjusting beautifully to his new and happy life.
******************************************************************************************

Bosco's foster family has cared for many many wonderful dogs over the years but this delightful chap is one of their all-time favorites. He became part of the family in no time and is so very easy to live with. His nickname is Bosco Bear since he is such a Teddy Bear!

Bosco is a purebred red and white Pembroke Welsh Corgi that weighs in at a trim and healthy 34 pounds and stands 13" tall at the shoulder. He was born April 1996. Bosco is a robust and dapper fellow with a charming personality. His energy level certainly belies his age. He has the vigor and demeanor of an 8-10 year old dog. Corgis have an average lifespan of 12-15 years. Bosco has a spring in his step and his eyes are bright and lively and we expect his new family can look forward to enjoy him for quite some time.

Poor Bosco! His world turned upside down but he took it all in stride. With great sadness his owner surrendered him to our program - he had to take on a second job to avoid foreclosure on his home and this left no time for Bosco.

What a sweetheart!! Bosco is a people pup without a doubt! He shadows his family as they go about their business and likes to be included in everyday activities. He is such a dear boy! He is rather set in his ways and certainly likes his routine and who can blame this darling senior fellow! His quirks are easily managed and he does well with gentle guidance to let him know what is expected of him.

Bosco was a very good boy for the groomer when he got his bath. He was seen by our vet and was a perfect gentleman for his exam. His hearing and vision are fine for a dog his age and he is in overall good health. He has been vaccinated, and had routine bloodwork done to assess his overall health(normal results) and tested negative for heart worms. A mild bladder infection cleared up after being treated with antibiotics. He has been neutered and a dental to clean & polish his teeth until they sparkle and shine. He is on inexpensive daily glucosamine/chondroitin oral supplements to help maintain joint health - something we recommend for dogs of all ages.
A nickel sized "hotspot" on his hind leg has healed nicely. Bosco can get itchy at times and appears to have allergies. He has been put on a premium allergy formula, grain free, fish and potato dog food (found at the local pet supply store) to improve his nutrition and support his overall health as food allergies could be the culprit. He may need daily or seasonal antihistamines to manage his allergies with stronger medication for any flare ups he may have.

Bosco L-O-V-E-S to go for walks!! He likes to be out in front on lead but does not pull and enjoys patrolling the neighborhood. Bosco is quite fit and trim and in good condition. He is full of Corgi curiosity and enjoys exploring the back yard on a daily basis. Sun bathes are thoroughly enjoyed.

He thrives on attention from his family and eagerly greets visitors at the door. He would probably do best in an adult home with a regular routine, or one that includes teens who are considerate and respectful of animals. Belly rubs and ear scritches are always welcome!

He had always been the only animal in his former home and may do best in a home with no other pets or with a compatible low key canine companion. He gets along with some friendly dogs but not all canines. He hangs out nicely with the 3 mild mannered mature dogs in his foster home but chooses not really interact with them much. He has been fine with the resident cat in his foster home and they hang out nicely together as well.

Bosco is house trained and crate trained and has nice house manners. In fact he is often in his crate when he could be elsewhere and enjoys napping there. He puts himself to bed each night - really! - and looks forward to his bedtime cookie before tucking himself in.

A $100 adoption donation is required for Bosco.

If you are interested in adoption, please fill out an Application prior to contacting us. Our adoption information page has detailed information on the adoption process, and should answer most of your questions.
