Boone (private rehoming)

Intuitive. Affectionate. Loyal. Smart. Boone is a 4-yr old 43# Border Collie/ Australian Shepherd mix looking for a family that deeply connects with their pups and enjoys intelligent dogs. Boone will thrive in home with a settled routine. He is as Velcro as they come, following his people/person around the house, always wanting to do something together. Loves to learn new tricks and chase a ball or frisbee to his heart’s content. Lovingly called Bubba or BooBoo, Boone has perfect medium energy. He wants to exercise his body each day with play time in the yard or a low-key solitary stroll with his human best friend. He thoroughly enjoys training sessions a few times a week to keep his mind sharp, picking up new concepts with lightning speed. The ideal family for Boone is comprised of adults and could include mature teens. A physically fenced yard is required*; he finds sniffing the news of the day very relaxing, and playing in his very own safe space is a highlight. Best as an only dog. Cats are not a good fit. Trustworthy loose in the house when people are not home. A quiet suburb without much dog traffic or even a rural setting would be heaven for Boone: he is uncomfortable meeting unknown dogs out on walks. Boone and his person love the challenge of “higher education,” and have successfully taken specialized classes to help him gain confidence and sort through the busy world. Like many highly intelligent and observant dogs, Boone can struggle with anxiety. Boone takes Gabapentin and Sertraline to help make life navigable. In the right home, these could be reduced or eliminated. He takes Apoquel seasonally for allergies, which may be situational based on specific grasses and plants near where he lives now. The approximate cost for his medications is $60/month. Boone is a very sweet boy who gives his entire heart to his people, loving them with his whole being.
