This dog is currently out of state but will be transported to New England shortly with no additional travel costs. The long distance adoption process includes talking to the foster they are living with in the south. Thank you!** Meet Boone - a 4-5 year old, German Shepherd / Husky mix, who weighs 70 pounds (as of 7/17/24). Boone's family was not able to bring him along for a cross country move, so his neighbors are fostering him and are determined to help this sweeet boy find his forever family! He is such a lovable guy - just look at his face! His foster shares: "Our family met Boone in 2020 when he and his family moved in across the street. Boone made himself very comfortable and started coming over regularly to play with our five rescue dogs (3 males and 2 females who are ranging in size). Boone's family unfortunately had to relocate and couldn't bring the sweet boy with them, so we offered to look after him! This boy is so, so sweet and barely barks. He loves children and dogs of all sizes! His old family also had a cat, who Boone tried to become friends with, but the cat wasn't interested. He does very well on a leash and is loyal and affectionate. He deserves to be happy and have a loving family to call his own!" It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
