Boone/Bennie He is an incredibly sweet dog, that deserves to be in a home with someone that can show him patience, routine, kindness, attentiveness, and all the love that he demands. He is desperate to make a connection with someone and will do anything to get your attention for extra love! His life has been incredibly hard and cannot be corrected with loud voices or sudden movements- rather positive encouragement and lots of treats is recommended when training. He is not full house trained and does not indicate when he needs to go to the bathroom. (Likely a habit from his living conditions prior). Boone/Bennie is VERY food motivated and super playful. He loves his stuffed animals, balls, and chasing lizards in the yard if he sees one. He loves to sun bathe and is a great indication that he is relaxed in his environment. He is great on a leash, never pulls, but loves to sniff every blade of grass if you have the time to let him! He doesn’t love crates or to be left alone in one. Best if he can have a space to be in that is safe and secure if he is to be left alone. He is super friendly with other dogs and does well in social situations and responds well to other dogs if they correct him or show that they are disinterested. We observed that he likes to be around other dogs in the house and would like to cuddle with them. We think he would do well in a house with a well mannered dog that can show him their own routine and training. Our rescue group was told he does not do well with cats. He loves to be out and about- walking around, going out to dog friendly restaurants, especially if he can observe the world around him from a vantage point. He does get overheated, so light exercise is recommended. He loves car rides but needs patience as he is not comfortable getting in or out of cars quickly. He will fall asleep 5 min down the road usually! He is a great eater, dry food only as he is quite messy! He is loving his puzzle feeder to slow him down a bit. We have observed that he does not like vacuum cleaners and will be destructive to himself and things around him if you have it going in the house with him in it. (Even if he is in another room). He is also scared of lawnmowers, blowdryers, and coffee grinders, however we are trying to desensitize him to these items. We believe he would do best in a home with someone who is around a lot or who works from home. A back yard would be great for him as he likes to sniff and explore. Bonus if they have experience with English Bulldog breeds. He does well with children and visitors.
