My Story

Age/Birthdate:5yrs • Expected Weight: 48lbs • Breed Guess: Hound Mix • Fully Vetted:No • Adopt fee: $300 Location: Any Special Medical or Special Needs: Spay Temperament with: Dogs:Great Cats: Children list specific ages: She is in a home with a teen but would be ok with younger kids. Strangers:Good Training Needs: Some training needed but she is really good. Crate Trained:Yes Potty Trained:Yes Hello! I'm Bonnie, a beautiful brindle dog who’s finally done with raising puppies.I’m a laid-back and gentle soul who enjoys a slow walk around the neighborhood or just hanging out in the backyard. I’m great with the other dogs in my foster home and get along well with my human family members, including my 15-year-old teen. I’ve also been a hit with my foster family’s friends.Though I’m mostly house-trained, I’ve had a few accidents recently, mostly due to my tendency to mark over the scent of the other dogs in the house. I’m crate-trained and generally very good about potty habits. I’m a big girl, so I’d thrive best in a spacious home where I can stretch out and relax. My favorite things include getting pets, smiling, and taking slow walks—nothing more than 2 miles for me! If you’re looking for a happy-go-lucky companion who just wants to be loved, I’d love to meet you. She/He is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. We cannot hold our dogs for any reason. Unless the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will only consider applications that are within 1 hour or 40 miles of Lemont, IL. This is due to the required vetting at our partner veterinarians. If the dog or puppy is fully vetted we will allow adoptions out of state or outside of our 1 hour or 40 mile restriction. Please do not apply unless you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into the home within five days of approval. ADOPTION FEE: $300 (includes spay/neuter must be done when the rescue schedules it at one of our partner vets, microchip, rabies vaccine, DHPP vaccine, 4DX test (Heartworm, Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia, Lyme Disease ) and a general wellness which includes dewormer, heartworm prevention and flea/tick prevention) *Please understand that we will spay/neuter no younger than 16 weeks but it is the rescue's discretion when the dog will get that procedure. We know that some veterinarians recommend waiting depending on the breed's projected size but as a rescue, our goal is to prevent further unwanted, "accidental" litters. Spaying and neutering also have many benefits for cancer prevention and avoiding behavioral problems. The American Animal Hospital Association and the American Veterinary Medical Association support pediatric spay and neuter procedures for cats and dogs as early as 8-16 weeks of age. We always assess and speak with our partner vets when is the best time to perform this procedure. Interested? Submit an adoption application at www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt
