My Story

We recently became a Foster Family to a loving friendly male called “Bond”. We named him that after we were unable to locate his original family and because he bonds so well with people, dogs and cats. He is approximately a year old and appears to be a Shiba Inu or Basenji Cross. He is fully grown at approx 19” at the shoulder and presently underweight at 12.5kg/27lbs. Twice a day meals will correct that soon. He came from a home that must have spent time with him as he socializes very well without signs of nervousness, fear or aggression. Right from the beginning he has adapted to our routine and enjoys every new adventure we have introduced to him. He would be a terrific dog for any household. He could fit with a home that likes to relax and cuddle, or with someone who needs a running, biking or rollerblading companion. Did I mention his thick and soft coat? I love to pet him as much as he benefits from the attention. He loves to play with our dogs and sons, or cuddle by the couch with a toy or bone. He even loves our cat and though she is not scratching him, she does bat and hiss at him if he gets too close. We are working with him on walking beside us without pulling and he does like to dig in the wet dirt, all showing signs of improvement. He loves: blankets, bones, noise makers and stuffed toys. We have taken him on walks; rides in van; to the vet’s; had company in our house; bathed him; played catch; all with a positive response. After his bath he loves to roll in the blankets/towels. He would be an excellent candidate for agility or flyball as he can quickly change positions, flips and flops while playing. Right now working on retrieving the ball. Firm, soft hands work well with him. Along with consistent commands, treats and praise, he will learn quickly what is expected of him. He has learned to sit, wait for his meals. He is crated during the night and if we are away from home. Toys with chewing benefits are recommended as he is still young and left to his own devices loves to find things to entertain such as Kleenex and stuffing from toys. If you are looking for a ‘forever dog’ consider Bond. You won’t be disappointed, he’s a winner!
Adoption Application
NEW HOPE DOG RESCUE is not a shelter. Our dogs are placed in loving foster homes. WE NEED FOSTER HOMES TO HELP MORE DOGS - CONTACT US TODAY!!!

Definitions:

Pending - means that we are working through the adoption process with the 1st applicant. We usually don't add the pending until we are pretty sure the adoption will go through (like at the home visit stage)

On Trial or Trial Visit - means that the dog is in their new home for up to 2 weeks before the adopters need to commit to keeping the dog. We want to make sure that everyone is happy with the new living arrangements! We allow this option for everyone except very long distance adoptions (too far to drive).

Adopted - you know!! A happy ending for a homeless dog. We try to let everyone know when we have the final word. Within about 24 hours, the dog's bio will be moved to our happy tails section!ent with this boy.
