This companion animals name is Bodey. Bodey is a very sweet boy of about 20 months old. He is a Marrema which is bred to be a protection dog for sheep and goat herds, which is the reason Bodey had very little human contact until he become a RED dog. Bodey was not successful as a "All working" dog" only environment. He is in need of a soft working home that will allow him to be a pet. This dog has no aggression and likes human company. We are not considering an all working home for this dog due to his needs and soft nature. Bodey is not a dog of bad habits, but is in great need of an education. He is learning sit and wait. Leash and crate training are going great! He has never been in a house before now so he needs a lot of time to just nag out and learn that it is okay. He is mostly afraid of the all tile floors in his foster home, he feels like his feet are slipping all the time and may do better in a home with carpeting. He appears to be mostly housetrained. He is crated when not attended and will never potty in his crate or the kennel run. He really seems to like to go potty in the same spot most of the time, so once he is shown an appropriate place, there shouldn't be much issue to him being housebroken. He needs a well fenced yard as he is a big dog. He weighs about 85#, but is quite tall and long with a very long coat that could use brushing, but that too will have to be introduced slowly. Bodey loves people, although the breed is prone to being protective, he hasn't met a stranger since he's been in foster care, however once he gets used to his yard and home, he will most likely bark to let you know someone is there. He loves all of the other animals, but would do best in a home that had a dog who would like to play with him and/or cats that don't run from him. He hasn't made any gesture to chase the cats in his foster home, but they are pretty aloof to dogs and stare him down until he leaves "their" space. Above all, this is a herding breed and he is still puppy-like in his mannerisms and play style. It is likely he would try to herd a group of anything he sees as his own, so needs to be in a home that understands this natural drive and it is also recommended that he be in a home with children over 5 yrs. old due to his size and playfulness. For a dog who's had no human bond, he has hooked onto his foster people very quickly and just wants someone to share an active or interactive lifestyle with him. He would be great to go on daily walks and may become a couch potato in time. These are not high energy dogs, but a smart dog with a natural work drive, so if not being exercised, they need something to work their mind such as learning new tricks, pulling a cart, etc....
