6/3/08: Bo has written a letter he wants you to read!

Hello to all potential adopters!

It's me, Bo. I just wanted to write a short note about myself. I don’t like to toot my own horn but I’m pretty special (so my foster mom says!). I’ve had a rough start to my young life. I lived in a burnt out mobile home down in the heat and bugs of Arkansas before my guardian angels at Almost Home Rescue thought I deserved a chance at a good life in New England. I hurt myself when I was a young boy and still growing, so I have a bit of a limp. The vet tells me my right knee is a full ½” higher than the left, but what you see is what you get so it shouldn’t affect me anymore than it does now later in life. I can still run and play with the best of them. I get along great with my canine brothers and sisters even though they’re much bigger than me. I did act tough with a canine visitor who was a bit of a pushover...because I could. I’m a little reserved when I first meet new people but warm up after a few minutes and am getting used to the antics of an 8 year old girl that says I’m the “bomb”! I’d love to celebrate Independence day with my forever family. I’ll be waiting to hear from you.

Bo Bo is a healthy shiny boy now and he weighs in at 40 pounds, a nice medium size. He's so happy to know that meals are coming on a regular basis!

Update 5/2/08: Bo's foster mom reports that this happy boy has been doing extremely well in foster care. He is now house trained, and he knows how to sit and come when called. He's looking more and more handsome every day, and his coat is getting shinier, too.

Bo gets along fine with the other dogs in his foster home, but he does seem to show a bit of prey drive. For this reason, we would be cautious about placing him with cats. He has not been cat-tested, but his foster mom has observed a strong chase instinct whenever Bo notices a small furry critter on his walks.

Update 4/18/08: If you're a frequent visitor to our site, you know we often report sad stories. Dogs sometimes come to us, and our partner shelters, from pathetic conditions. The place where Bo was found shocked even our seasoned volunteers. This gorgeous black lab mix had been hiding in an abandoned trailer in rural Arkansas with several other dogs (see last photo).

Bo is smaller than first reported. He weighs in around 25-30 pounds, and since he's about a year old, we don't expect his frame to grow anymore.

Despite his last address being less than, well, civilized, Bo seems to have rebounded from his troubles and he's amazingly people friendly. He's very affectionate with his foster mom and he aspires to be a lap dog. If her lap isn't available, he happily settles for the back of the couch.

Bo is gentle, he walks like a gentleman on his leash, and he loves going for walks, especially in the woods.

Bo is getting along well with his foster family's three resident dogs, and his foster mom expects that he will soon join in their exuberant play.

Bo is part of a rescue that took about 25 dogs, including 3 litters of puppies, from an abandoned trailer in Arkansas (last picture).

He is just about a year old, and appears to be a very small lab mix. He has beautiful eyes, loves to follow his foster Mom everywhere. Thinks TV time is great because he gets to sit in a lap and would love his very own real home!!! He is in foster care near Bangor, Maine. He gets along with other dogs, has not lived with kids, and we do not know about cats.
