My Story

Blueberry's name is now Madison, Maddy for short, and she is ever so happy in her new home! See for yourself in the great photos her new family sent to us that we have posted here. Congrats on your happy new home Maddy!

A lovely couple and their dog have fallen in love with sweet Blueberry and will be taking her home once she is spayed. If she and the cats in the home get along as well as she and her new little doggie brother do she will be adopted officially soon.

Blueberry is an unclaimed stray who is shocked her family didn't come for her. She is very stressed at the shelter and upset at the idea of being homeless. She is looking for a Shar-pei loving home to spoil her. She is looking for a quieter home to be well-loved in. She is very sweet once she knows you, but as is often typical of Shar-pei, is not always uber affectionate with new people. Once she knows you she likes to peer lovingly at you and give you kisses. She is a sucker for treats, and kind voices. She seems to be good with other dogs and is very interested in meeting them if they are calm and don't bark at her. If they do bark she gets a little scared. If they don't bark at her she starts to make all kinds of silly and playful noises to entice them to play with her. She doesn't really seem to notice cats.

Blueberry takes time to warm up and trust people and may not return when called until she is very bonded with her new people so should not be let off-leash on walks and should always be in a very secure collar or harness when walking on-leash. If she is to be left alone for anytime in a yard it has to be secure as well and she, as with all dogs, should never be left outside unattended for any length of time. Loud noises and unfamiliar places are scary for Blueberry and she needs to know her people and places well before she is comfortable. Once she settles into her new home with her new people we know she will be loyal, loving and more than ready to enjoy the comforts of her new life. Due to her timid nature and unknown history we hope to find Blueberry a home without young children. A home with older children used to dogs who will understand Blueberry's shy demeanor and let her come to them would be best.

Blueberry will be available to head to her new home once she is spayed. She has already had a visit with the vets at Tsawwassen Animal Hospital who say she is a healthy young girl. Her age is estimated to be about a year old and she is a pretty and petite little gal. Blueberry has itchy skin at times so should be kept on a high quality diet to keep her skin comfy. This is common for the breed and easy to control with proper diet. Recommendations will be made for her diet requirements and more info can be found on our TnT Web-site and at links noted on that site - go to www.tntsharpeirescue.com to find out all you need to know about Shar-pei or to apply to adopt Blueberry as TnT Rescue will be helping the Delta Humane Society find Blueberry a perfect home.
