My Story

When Biscuit was born she was all curled up and her toasty light tan color made her look just like a little biscuit that had just come out of the oven. Her unusual beautiful eyes almost match the color of her coat. She was born on 3/16/10. Her Daddy was a full blood 6 month old German Shepherd and her Mama was a mixture of many breeds, possibly some Yellow Lab. Since the people who Biscuit lived with did not give the puppies their immunizations at 6 weeks of age, 3 of the puppies in the litter had Parvo. Biscuit was very ill and was on an IV at the vet’s office for 3 days. It was touch and go for about 3 weeks because she didn’t eat or drink anything. She lost a lot of weight. She couldn’t even lift up her head. Then all of a sudden it seemed that she made a decision to live and not die. She started eating and drinking, walking and even playing a little. The vet says that once they have had Parvo, they can never get it again. This is not an illness you would ever want your puppy to have because it makes them so sick, it is life threatening and very contagious to other puppies. Please tell everyone you know how important it is to get their puppies’ shots at 6, 9, and 12 weeks. Biscuit had something else happen to add to her problems. One night while she was alone at the vet’s office it is possible that an IV line was wrapped around her leg and cut off her circulation. Her foot was 3 times the size it should have been and some of the tissue in one of her toes was damaged. Through hydrotherapy, antibiotics and lots of love and attention, her foot is almost healed now. Biscuit is healthy, happy and ready to go to her new furever home. Because she was held almost constantly for 2 weeks, she has become quite attached to her people. She doesn’t want to be very far away from her foster mom even for a few minutes. She likes to sleep in people beds at night. She is fine alone in the whole house by herself or with other animals. She likes other dogs and cats although they don’t always like it when she licks them in the face. She just doesn’t want to be in a room by herself or in a crate. I guess you could say that she is “a little spoiled”.  The perfect home for Biscuit is with someone who is home a good part of the time and who wants a lot of love and kisses and wants to cuddle a lot.
