My Story

Sweet Billy loves life and wakes up, ready to tackle the day with enthusiasm and energy. He came to Wisconsin all the way from Tennessee where he was dropped at the shelter with his brother. His brother has been adopted but Billy is still looking for his forever. He is 11 months old and 32lbs. We predict he will be around 35lbs as a full grown guy. He is a very sweet boy and has loved the attention he is getting from his foster family. He responds very well to positive reinforcement and loves pets and scritches from his people. His brothers DNA test showed Rat Terrier and Husky, but he has short bob tail and plays like a cattle dog. His nose is always to the sky or to the ground. He would love an active family that will take him on adventures to smell the world. He is doing pretty well with crate training. He settles in quickly and is mostly quiet unless he hears other dogs barking outside or other movement in the house. He is crated while I work from home for four hour chunks with a long lunch break in the middle. He gets a frozen kong in the morning which helps him settle in and a greenie in the crate in the afternoon. At bedtime, we drop a few treats in the top of the crate. Billy is doing well with potty training as long as he gets lots of chances to go. He is demonstrating pretty clear potty signals so as long as you can catch those, he should do well. He will still have accidents if you ignore the signals. He does ok on leash. He loves going on walks but he still gets excited sometimes and will occasionally pull or bark. He has done well with the other dogs after a bit of time to settle in. He gets very excited meeting new friends so he can be kind of obnoxious at first (Billy says he is just eager). Once he settles down, he is everyone's favorite pup to play with. He does sometimes bark at other dogs to try and and engage play so he can be a bit overwhelming to some dogs. He plays like a cattle dog (nips at legs) so pups friends that are used to/like that style of play would be a good match for Billy. He gets very amped when around the kitty and immediately tries to get to it, so he would probably do best in a home without kitties. Billy absolutely loves all the people and kids he met at events. He gets pretty excited though and will jump up to try and give hugs so would do best with kids that are a bit older/studier on their feet and can help reinforce boundaries. He is a great sized pup that really loves his people. He deserves a family that will take the very best care of him and love him like crazy! **Dog breeds listed are best guesses from veterinary professionals, they are never a guarantee.
